It seems everywhere you turn these days, AI is discussed. AI is the buzz. AI is the answer.
So, not surprisingly, AI is “the answer” in Responsible Gambling.
More accurately, it’s a vital tool and steps towards a Pathway to Treatment.
I just joined CARA (a Canadian non profit – Canadian Addiction Recovery Association) and we acquired all gaming-related platforms and assets including the “Pathways to Prevention, Education and Treatment” programs from CACCF (another Canadian non profit – the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation).
The tech platform is amazing. It can connect you to an appointment with one of 3,000 accredited CACCF addiction agents (you can make an appointment in 90 seconds and zoom with a CACCF within 72 hours). This service is necessary, especially with the rapid expansion of gambling across Canada. We now have 50 regulated sites in Ontario and Alberta is going live soon. The provinces and territories each have casinos and mobile betting apps. Addiction is much quicker and easier when you can access a casino on your phone. One CACCF addiction agent told me her client’s wife needs to monitor his phone and only allows him a few minutes a day of web access to ensure he doesn’t visit sites (with Betguard now, those in Ontario can at least self exclude from all regulated sites fairly effortlessly).
But back to the AI buzz, if you’d like to have a conversation immediately, there are five AI personas to chose from and you can explain your concerns and get information and guidance; your first step towards a pathway to treatment.
If AI is going to help with Responsible Gambling, I am all for it!
